General
This is a placeholder for documentation, please feel free to add/change/create any pages here to document use and features of Plex for other users.
Minimum Requirements
Please make sure your system meets the Minimum Requirements for running Plex.
Installation
Installation is straightforward and easy:
- Go to our Downloads page and get the latest version
- Open the downloaded DMG file and copy Plex to your Applications folder.
- (optional) Go to your Applications folder and drag the Plex application to you dock for easy launch.
- (optional) To run current stable and bleeding edge versions on the same Mac you could setup two users and install the stable and latest Plex versions separately, one for each user.
User Guide
A helpful User Guide is available for new users. Learn everything from setting resolution, to adding your media, to using the Library.
Configure the System
When using the MediaStream skin, there are two sub menus of settings available. When Configure the Skin is selected on the home screen, pressing the right cursor will bring out a sub menu with the following sections:
- Settings - Brings you to the main settings listing.
- Scripts
- File Manager
- Favorites
- Profile
- Info
- Credits
When Configure the Skin is selected and you press enter, you are brought to a list of the following settings:

The Advanced Guides section is for more advanced users who are ready to take Plex to the next level.
